The new Beehive Flag was signed into law by Governor Spencer Cox on May 21,2023. The Utah state flag features a large yellow beehive — the state’s symbol for "Industry," also its motto — at its center with red, white and blue running horizontally in the background. The white section in the center also makes pointed crests, reflective of the state’s mountainous terrain. Utah’s former state flag, referred to as the historical flag, will be preserved in an elevated form. It will be flown with the new flag at the Utah State Capitol during official ceremonies, special events, and legislative sessions. As a historical emblem, Utah’s seal will continue to be displayed — and continue to honor the state’s legacy.
