Elissa Martin, PT, DPT
My name is Elissa Martin (pronounced like Melissa but without the M). I have been a Physical Therapist
since 2017. I graduated from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, TX with my Doctor of Physical
Therapy degree. Since graduating, I have worked in a multitude of different fields. I was a home health
therapist for 2.5 years working with geriatrics, Parkinson’s, cardiopulmonary diseases, wound care, and
post-op orthopedics.
I was an outpatient and in-patient therapist for Texas Back Institute treating a multitude of patients diagnosed with spondylosis, degenerative disc disease, scoliosis, and post spinal surgeries. After carrying and delivering my children, I have recently discovered the importance of physical therapy intervention for prenatal, postpartum, and pelvic floor health, and the overall well-being of mothers.
I am excited to be working with the Integrated Physical Therapy team to learn more about pelvic floor and women’s health. Some things that I love about being a PT are the individual connections I make with my patients and learning new things from them be it clinical, cultural, etc.
I was born and raised in the DFW area. I met my husband, Alex, in high school, and have been together for almost 15 years. I am a mother of 2 young boys, William and Nicholas, who keep us going all day long. I have three fur babies, Kylo, Chili, and Snickers.
I love to bake sweet treats such as cookies, sweet bread, and cake, especially around the holidays. I enjoy swimming, nature walks, playing with my kids, and relaxing with a video game or show on the couch.
